XConf Unplugged is a community for technologists. We'll keep you plugged in and up-to date with breaking technology changes, updates and news. This event is the third in the series!

X-Conf is a part of our Free Knowledge series.

Additionally, if you subscribe to Free Knowledge by clicking the tick box, you will be sent special nuggets of knowledge every few weeks delivered to your inbox— it might be the first look at a piece of tech content, videos of ThoughtWorkers’ talks, early access to our latest books, or reports, like the bi-annual Tech Radar. You will also get invites to the best events happening in your region — because communities are best when they have faces, and food.

Building community based place data with connected sensors: Connected Bees

The rise of low-cost connected IOT sensors and the advent of low power wide area networks like LoRaWAN  (Long Range Wide Area Networks) makes it possible to unobtrusively monitor remote or hard to reach areas that would otherwise be too difficult or too expensive to operate and maintain.

Recently we’ve started to work with community places to help them capture their own data about the environment there and understand how those places are utilised.
